A good turnout for Chale Day

The Chale Community Project stand at Chale Day received a lot of visitors from all over the UK interested in the project. Many were surprised to hear that the renewables retrofit in Chale was the biggest, most concentrated installation being carried out by any housing association in the UK. There was also interest in Phase 2 of the project, due to start in September, which will focus on sustainable measures for all aspects of village life.

Ellen MacArthur was there to present the prize to the winner of the ‘Green Machine’ competition – she was particularly impressed by the standard of the welding having done quite a bit herself! – and was happy to explain how her own ‘green machine’, an electric Renault Kangoo, works.
